ALCOHOL & FOOD SAFETY

The Organisers and the NEC Group recognise the importance of food safety in satisfying our customers and clients.  Our aim is to achieve the highest standards in food safety and hygiene throughout the catering operations undertaken by exhibitors, external caterers and The NEC Group.

Procedures in place at the NEC Group ensure compliance with relevant EC and UK Food Laws.

To ensure compliance with the legislation, both Local Authority Environmental Health Officers and internal Health and Hygiene Managers regularly carry out food safety audits and inspections on site. Advice will be given and requirements and recommendations will be made where necessary.

This manual explains the main requirements of the legislation for exhibitors who may be offering food, for sale or by way of hospitality, to people visiting their stand. Please click on either the Alcohol or Food Safety Information tab above for more information.

If you are exhibiting food or alcohol, please note this on your Health & Safety Declaration and submit the relevant form, along with the supporting documents. You will be contacted by the relevant department and someone will visit your stand at the show.

Single Use Plastics

A range of polluting single-use plastics has been banned in England. The ban will include single-use plastic plates, trays, bowls, cutlery, balloon sticks, and certain types of polystyrene cups and food containers. This ban was introduced from 1st October 2023 and will therefore be in place for the BBC Good Food Show Winter. We therefore wanted to remind you of this to ensure that you are mindful when planning for the Show and are using disposables that are not single use plastic.

We suggest looking at alternative materials including paper, cardboard and vegware for this.
